Compatibility Checklist

Before purchasing, please verify your cylinder and system match the following specifications:

• Element Length: 24 inches (610 mm) — confirm your cylinder boss depth allows this length
• Element Type: Dual element (two heating elements in one unit — peak and off-peak heating)
• Wattage: Typically 3kW (peak) / 1.5kW (off-peak) — check your cylinder label or original element rating to confirm
• Thread / Boss Size: Standard 1¾" BSP (British Standard Pipe) thread — confirm your cylinder boss thread matches before fitting
• Thermostat Compatibility: Compatible with standard rod-type immersion thermostats; check that your existing thermostat is suitable for dual-element use
• Switch / Timer Compatibility: Works with standard immersion heater switches and timers rated at 13–16A; confirm your switch is rated for the element wattage
• Cylinder Type: Suitable for copper hot water cylinders — not suitable for stainless steel or unvented (pressurised) cylinders unless specifically rated
• Water Type: Check compatibility with your local water hardness; lime-scale build-up can reduce element lifespan in hard-water areas

• Installation must comply with Irish Wiring Regulations (IS 10101 / ETCI National Rules) and all applicable local electrical codes.

• Ensure the cylinder is fully drained before removing or fitting the element to avoid water damage and burns.
